McDonald's Is Making Significant Burger Changes

McDonald's announced in April that they would be changing their burgers. Pillowy buns, perfectly melted cheese, and a better sear on the patties were promised.

The changes began on the West Coast in 2023 and have spread nationwide. Fans have been going crazy over them—not always in a good way.

Now, the company is saying the burger changes will hit all McDonald's locations nationwide by early 2024.

To make juicier burgers, the restaurant made new tweaks, according to The Wall Street Journal. McDonald's also strives to make the “best burgers ever.”

We can do it quickly and safely, but it may not taste good. “We want to incorporate quality into where we are,” McDonald's senior director of global menu strategy Chris Young told The Wall Street Journal.

First, six patties will be grilled instead of eight. Less patties means less pressure on the auto-cooking mechanism, resulting in juicier burgers.

The updated burgers will have buttery brioche buns with a thicker bottom to retain heat. Cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes will also change, according to McDonald's.
